
Redundancy - Selection criteria form
A redundancy selection criteria form sets out the criteria that will be used to make redundancy decisions and allows employers to score employees against those criteria. It might also be referred to as a redundancy selection criteria matrix or a redundancy scoring matrix.
Once employers have created a redundancy pool, they will need to apply selection criteria to choose who from that pool should be made redundant. Some businesses may have a redundancy agreement or policy which specifies pre-agreed selection criteria. If they do, they should use those criteria to select individuals for redundancy. If not, employers will need to decide what criteria to use. Using appropriate selection criteria is important to avoid inadvertently discriminating against staff.
