Quick guide to the model articles
This quick guide to the model articles will help you get to grips with the model articles of association. If you did not write any special articles when you set up your company, you will be using the model articles by default.
Your articles of association are an important part of your company’s constitution. They are a set of rules that cover how you run your company. It is crucial that you know what they say and act accordingly. If you breach your articles, the consequences can be serious and could include legal action by aggrieved shareholders.
If you are not sure whether your company uses the model articles, you can look at its Companies House entry. The first entry in the Filing History tab will tell you what articles you incorporated with and you can look through the rest of the entries for notification of any later changes to them.
For further information about company articles of association, including how to decide whether you should use the model articles or not, see Memorandum and articles of association.
